Duchenne Assistance Program
The Walking Strong Assistance Program helps Duchenne families with their overwhelming medical needs that are most often not covered by insurance. To date, we have provided families with life-changing items such as a handicap accessible van, service dogs, Hoyer lifts, in-home ramps, alternative therapies, medical travel expenses, and online training courses for older Duchenne teens to help provide them with a career.

Exciting Partnership Announcement:
Walking Strong & CoachArt
Through this new partnership, boys living with Duchenne and their siblings (ages 5–18) will have access to free one-on-one lessons in the activity of their choice — from painting to art and baking online.
After a series of four weekly sessions, kids can continue the same activity or explore something new. CoachArt provides all lesson materials and matches each child with a trained, compassionate volunteer coach.
CoachArt was founded on a powerful belief: a diagnosis shouldn’t take away a child’s chance to be a kid. Since 2001, childhood friends Zander and Leah have been turning that vision into reality by providing kids impacted by serious illness with access to enriching art and athletic experiences at no cost to families.
This partnership means more creativity, more movement, and more joy — because every child deserves the chance to discover their passions and have fun, no matter what challenges they face.
