A Night of Strength Gala 2019

Walking Strong has raised a total of ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

We did it!  In just FIVE short years, we have raised $1,000,000!   We never imagined that would even be possible, but on November 2nd – we did it!   The lives we are changing give us purpose, and we know we have formed a community of warriors who are walking strong with us.    Our 5th Annual gala was bigger and better than ever before, and the compassion and love filled the room that night.  We honored 18-year-old Elijah Stacy, who founded the organization “Destroy Duchenne,” in order to control his own fate in his hands.   Elijah, who was diagnosed with Duchenne as a young boy,  also had two younger brothers diagnosed with Duchenne shortly thereafter.   His middle brother Max, passed away last year at age 15.  Not wanting to give up, his fight to destroy Duchenne became greater.  He is a positive-thinker, who is driven to succeed and make a difference in the world, not allowing Duchenne to hold him back.   We honored Elijah with the “Pillar of Strength” Award.

Keisha Renee, a finalist on NBC’s “The Voice” in 2017,  graced us with her voice and sang powerful songs that brought the crowd to its feet.

Our Live Auction was incredible with Coachella passes, a Malibu Beach house weekend, an original signed Kobe Bryant charcoal drawing, but the highlight was an original painting by renowned artist, Nicholas Kontaxis.   23 years old, Nicholas is Autistic and epileptic, born with an inoperable brain tumor.  He discovered painting just a few years ago and now his pieces are in galleries around the world!  Nicholas painted a very special piece for our Gala that he aptly titled, “Strong Front.”

We were so blessed to have such a successful and inspirational gala and to be able to affect the lives of those who walk in our shoes.

Our supporters are truly Walking Strong with us!
