What a comeback!! After not having an event for three years, we came back in full force. What an incredible and inspirational night. Our new location at CBS Studios Radford on New York Street set the scene for a magical night. Outside under the stars and lights, it felt like you were in the middle of lower Manhattan in New York. The evening began with a surprise introduction from Alexander (16) and Elena (14) Llauro, who said a couple of jokes and introduces their parents and Co-Founders, Valerie and Jorge Llauro. They presented the most-deserved “Pillar Of Strength Award” to Dr. Stan Nelson and Dr. Carrie Miceli from the CDMD at UCLA. The most exciting part of the evening was the LIVE AUCTION. Kicking it off, a signed $100 dollar bill – signed by Alexander Llauro – sold for $3,000! The Live Auction continued which gave people the opportunity to bid on Coachella VIP Passes, U.S. Open Tickets, and Lakers Seats donated by Janie Bus. The voice talent of former American Idol finalist, Elliott Yamin performed a moving cover of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” against a backdrop of images of Duchenne boys that Walking Strong has provided assistance. The evening ended with craft cocktails, casino games, and DJ music, celebrating an inspirational and moving evening that touched everyone to the core.
